Long-time Support Worker Pusi Sa has been nominated as Employee of the Month for July. Dedicated to all her customers, Pusi has been recognised for her commitment and reliability. She came with her customers from Pasifika Integrated Health to Pacific Homecare and has remained dedicated to them ever since.

Tell us a little bit about your background?

My name is Pusi Sa from Samoa. I’m a mother of four boys. I am blessed with nine grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren.

What sorts of things do you do in your job?

My work includes personal cares and household tasks

Tell us about your customers / a normal day in your job?

I enjoy working with my customers. Every day I go in and complete the tasks required for them. I have been with my customers for a long time and so I understand them very well. I came with my customers to Pacific Homecare from Pasifika Integrated Healthcare. After 12 years of working together, I understand them and they understand me very well.

What training have you completed at Pacific Homecare?

I have completed my Level 3 Health & Wellbeing Certificate, First Aid training and training on transferring customers

What do you like most about working at Pacific Homecare?

I love working at Pacific Homecare because of the atmosphere it creates. I love meeting different cultures. I’ve learnt a lot through my work and training about looking after my customers

My dad

At the end of your working day, what do you like to do?

I love spending more time with my grandchildren. I cook dinner, do the housework and put my feet up for a good rest to prepare for the next workday.

I am greatful to God and to Pacific Homecare for providing me with this opportunity to love and care for our customers everyday

What’s your favourite childhood memory?

My favourite memories are of back home. I used to love going to the plantation and planting Taro. I enjoyed fishing and paddling in the canoe

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a nurse

If you weren’t doing this job what would you be doing?

Working in factories like I used to do when I first came to New Zealand and when I first went to Australia.
