Pacific Homecare is committed to helping our Support Workers develop new skills, build confidence, and strengthen their knowledge in both their work and everyday lives.
Over the past few months, some of our Support Workers have taken part in two of The Learning Wave programmes at the PHC Office: Digital Pathways and Safety Pathways. Both programmes focused on practical, everyday skills that support our people to feel more confident in their roles and contribute to a safe, capable and connected workforce.
Digital Pathways:
From 14 July to 8 September 2026, 11 Support Workers participated in the Digital Pathways training. Facilitated by Paea Otumuli from The Learning Wave. Digital Pathways is designed to build Support Workers’ digital skills and confidence, helping them use technology in their everyday work and personal lives.
The programme covered practical skills including using digital devices, accessing information online, communicating digitally and completing everyday tasks safely and confidently. Learners also had opportunities to develop their digital knowledge through practical activities and supported learning.
The training was particularly valuable as Pacific Homecare transitions to a new CRM system, helping our Support Workers adapt to and confidently use new systems and technology in the workplace.
After completing the programme, 100% of trainees reported feeling more confident using digital tools. Trainees particularly valued the opportunity to develop practical digital skills and learn how to use different digital tools and applications that can support them in their work. They also enjoyed working together, sharing experiences and learning from one another.
Safety Pathways:
On the other hand, from 14 July – 22 September 2026, another 9 Support Workers participated in the Safety Pathways programme, facilitated yet again by Paea Otumuli from the Learning Wave. The feedback from the Safety Pathways training was also very positive, with 8 trainees completing the evaluation form.
Learning Together:
Both Digital Pathways and Safety Pathways provided our Support Workers with practical skills they can take into their everyday work and lives.
People and Culture Workforce and Training Support, Merelesita, said, “It was also great to see learners supporting one another throughout the programmes, sharing experiences and building confidence together.”
A big meitaki maata (thank you) to Paea Otumuli from Learning Wave for facilitating both programmes, and congratulations to all of our Support Workers who took part and committed their time to learning and development.
We’re proud to continue creating opportunities for our people to learn, grow and build confidence together at Pacific Homecare.
