Sunday 3 September – Saturday 9 September 2017 was Tonga Language week / Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e Lea Faka-Tonga? The theme for Tongan language week this year was: Nofo-‘a-Kaainga: A Tongan way of enriching Aotearoa New Zealand.
Dressed in full Tongan outfits complete with ta’ovala, our Fia Ola mama’s and papa’s turned up looking sharp, with red and white being the popular colours of choice (of course).
We were fortunately enough to be invited to share their special day with prayer, food, laughter, and music.
Thank you once again to our Tongan community for sharing your culture with us.
