Congratulations to our February employee of the month! Sisi has been with our organisation since 2016, and tells us that she loves her role as a support worker here at Pacific Homecare. “I like to meet my clients and help them to be happy and safe… I always wanted a job that allowed me to help others”.

Sisi and her whānau gained residency in New Zealand in 2006, after moving from Tonga. 10 years after arriving in Aotearoa, Sisi started her role as a support worker at Pacific Homecare, and never looked back.

“I love how the support workers work together to support each other as well as the clients. We are responsible for our own work, we have to do the right thing by the clients as God is watching”, Sisi explains about the importance of her role.

Sisi is especially dedicated to her work as a support worker. So much so, that she takes time out of her own day to ensure the elderly people she cares for are well. Sisi explains how recently One of her clients was in crisis and very upset after her power got cut off. Sisi assisted outside of her work time to take the client to work and income to get assistance. The client was able to get her power reconnected and get a grocery grant because of Sisi’s proactivity in getting her the support she desperately needed. After work that day, Sisi and her husband went around to the client’s house to make sure she was safe, and her power was reconnected “I just needed to know she was okay – I hated to see her crying, so I had to help”.

We are so lucky here at Pacific Homecare to have such dedicated employees who cherish the mahi they do. Sisi is a perfect example of our amazing support workers who we value very much. Congratulations Sisi and keep up the great work!
