Reliable. Attentive. Caring. Some of the greatest qualities that Faatusa Leuamuli has presented in her last year and a half of being a Support Worker at PHCARE.
In January, we congratulated Faatusa as the Employee of the Month. When she’s not being an amazing Support Worker to our customers, Faatusa is with her family of five, a mother of two daughters and one son!
She began quite the journey moving from Samoa to Wellington to Auckland from 1994 to 2001. Here, she gained a bit of experience in the sector by taking care of her aunty – soon realizing that being a Support Worker is the job she loves, because she loves to care for others.
Once Faatusa starts her day, she gets into her car, turns on the radio and prays for everyone. As a Christian, she values prayer and giving thanks to God daily. Whether she is entering the office or customers’ homes, Faatusa always greets everyone with a smile or a “hi my darling, hi my angel” to make their days a bit brighter!
She ALWAYS goes out of her way to help customers, whether it be reporting whenever she notices a change in their health or being that trusted person to rely on when needed.
“I love this job. A job I have been dreaming about. I didn’t really get the time to look after my birth mum and dad – just my aunty. So [in her job] I treat the customers like family.”
It has been a challenge at times for Faatusa to NOT treat each customer like a family member, as she has so much love for them all. She loves learning about them, talking to them and treating them like her own fanau.
Faatusa is a loving, caring and professional individual. A true role model!
