Over the summer, Pacific Homecare welcomed POPO (Pacific Opportunities Programme Otago) Intern, Stacey Paulo Rawiri as our Clinical Support for 8 weeks. The University of Otago offers the POPO Internship programme – a summer internship for Pacific students studying in a health-related programme.
As a Student Nurse completing her final year of study, Stacey developed her skills further in the industry by working alongside our Clinical staff, Louise, Lesieli and Rowena. Widening her knowledge by learning about the home-based healthcare services that we provide our customers with.
“This internship has allowed me to be a part of the Clinical Team and apply the knowledge and skills I need to better myself as I travel into the Nursing Industry. Pacific Homecare has given insights into the elderly and disability service, broadening my scope as a Student Nurse.”
Recently, Stacey and (virtually) our Clinical Coordinator, Lesieli, returned to her university and presented about Pacific Homecare to her fellow interns at the POPO Programme.
We are grateful to support Pasifika students through this programme and hope Stacey’s time with our team was just as enjoyable as it was for us.
