As part of the Whanau Ora ‘Health & Wellbeing’ arm of the programme, our navigators got to work scoping the most suitable options for our families. Options that encouraged a healthier, more active lifestyle while working at a pace that is suitable to all families in attendance.

Spearheaded by Whanau Ora Navigator Mama John, the team landed on a six-week boot camp programme in collaboration with Lions Den Fitness
Group.

The programmed was held two nights a week (Tuesday and Thursday) from the 12th of March to the 18th of April. The enthusiasm and turn out were exceptionally impressive. We are truly proud of the 25 participants who turned up each week and gave it 100% each time despite how challenging some of the exercises were. Special mention to the 17 participants who completed the programme.

We are looking to continue on this path and find more innovative ways to get our families more involved in programmes such as boot camp, Money Smart, etc with the goal of empowerment
Being a part of this 6-week challenge enabled me to interact with our families on a more personal level.

To see them come together and make a stand to better themselves health wise is extremely humbling and so rewarding. To Tuteru Samson and the Lions Den team, thank you for executing our vision to help our families live a longer and better life.
