Support Worker Miriama Tukana has swiftly become a cherished member of Pacific Homecare, earning admiration from both our customers and colleagues alike, for her wonderful character and professionalism in her daily work. In recognition of her work, we proudly congratulate her as the June Employee of the Month.
Originally a nurse residing in Suva, Fiji, Miriama, along with her sister Loraina, made the move to New Zealand and joined Pacific Homecare. “I am working in PHC as a Support Worker. It is a home-based working environment whereby we go to various houses and care for the sick client or do household chores,” she explains.
When asked about her favourite part of working at Pacific Homecare, Miriama says, “The friendly working environment and the best working family.” Here, we can see how the working environment she is in has become a place of inspiration. “I admired how they work in caring for a particular client and for those that have been in the company for more than 12 years, the lesson they have shared with us has been my inspiration every day not to give up and keep on moving forward despite the circumstances.”
Miriama’s warm-hearted nature shines through in her interactions with staff and clients. “I’m an extroverted person and love cooking during my day off. I also love to play netball and volleyball during my leisure time.”
