Mother of seven and māmā to her brilliant grandchildren, Support Worker, Meaalofa is a gift to Pacific Homecare! Hailing from the bright, Aulelei island of Samoa – Meaalofa moved to New Zealand in 1995 where she studied and then gained experience as a carer in a Rest Home. Once she began her adventure at Pacific Homecare, she immediately loved it.
“I enjoy myself… I help out the customers and be beside them. Feet pain, leg pain, helping with massages and encouraging them to exercise in their room…that’s why they miss me when another Support Worker looks after them.”
She says her customers always want their friend Meaalofa. They love her!
Meaalofa’s favourite part about working at Pacific Homecare is being close to the customers. As a result, she often learns the wonderful stories of their lives. She also said a fave part of her role is not listening to her roster haha. Here, she stays a couple of minutes longer just to spend more time with each customer.
When asked about who inspires her, Meaalofa replied with, her customers.
“Even when I relieve I treat them the same as my permanent customer…saying it’s alright mama/papa I’ll do it!”
Meaalofa pours her whole heart and soul into each and every one of her customers. They love her and she loves them. She’s truly a gift to our team.
