A long-time Support Worker at Pacific Homecare, Violeti has been caring for our customers since 2005. Over the past 20 years, she has shown incredible kindness, professionalism, and dedication in everything she does.

Recently, one of her clients’ daughters shared how deeply she appreciates Violeti’s care for her mum, who lives with dementia and limited mobility. Despite the challenges, Violeti brings joy into their home every day through her smile, laughter, and gentle care, earning the family’s complete trust and admiration.

In 1981, Violeti moved from Tonga to Aotearoa, New Zealand. Forty-four years later, she has built a wonderful life with her husband and their four children, all living happily together. When she first joined Pacific Homecare in 2005, her youngest son had just turned one, and although she hadn’t worked since becoming a mother, she felt it was the right time to return to the workforce. Encouraged by her sister-in-law, a former Support Worker at PHC, she applied—and sure enough, she got the job.

“The first time I started working, I loved the job, and I love the company. I like the people and the coordinators in the office. I love all the old people; they are friendly, and they are all lovely, beautiful people.” Twenty years later, our team, some old, some new, continues to share the same joy of working alongside Violeti.

Violeti says she loves her role because it reminds her of her parents. Her father sadly passed away when she was young, and her mother later moved into a rest home after a stroke.

“I think that’s why I love the job. I love working with the old people because they remind me of my mum. I hardly did the work that I do now for my mum, and that’s why I love working with the old people. I don’t care what their nationality is, I love them all because I feel like they’re my mums. I always call them ‘mum’ or ‘nana’ because they remind me of her. That’s why I love the job, and that’s why I love the company too. The people are so nice and friendly. I support the company and I’m proud to work here.”

When asked who inspires her at work, she mentions both clients and staff. “They help me both out in the field and inside the office. They are kind and supportive. I love that, you know? They are all special, and everyone at Pacific Homecare inspires me.”

When thinking of three words that describe PHC, she likes our values: love, care, and professionalism. “I love those three words—they’re perfect. Whenever anyone mentions PHC, I proudly say, ‘Yes, that’s where I am.’ I’m proud of the name and the values.”

As one of our longest-serving employees, Violeti shares that she has no plans to slow down. “I’m happy because next year I will be 65 and I still don’t want to stay home. I still want to work because I love working. I thank God for everything he’s done”.

Congratulations once again, Violeti, we’re so proud to have you in our Pacific Homecare whānau!
