Support Workers play a significant role in the well-being of our Pacific Homecare (PHC) customers. When staff go beyond their roles, we see it in their clients’ feedback. We talk about June Employee of the Month, Atelaite Mounga, sharing how multiple customers and their family members have reached out to PHC to commend her for her excellent care.

From the beautiful island of Tonga, Atelaite shares about her roots, saying, “In a warm home filled with laughter and the scent of island cooking, I myself, a proud Tongan 49 years of age, strong with my roots and even stronger in my love. I speak both Tongan and English fluently, but the language I speak best is kindness”.

Kindness is indeed a language that she best communicates with our customers. A customer’s daughter recently praised Atelaite for the remarkable care she provides her father, saying, “She is definitely one of the best Support Workers and an asset of Pacific Home Care. The service she provides for our dad has been nothing but remarkable! She is on time, and my dad is always left in an uplifting mood. Laite will consistently be compassionate and patient with him; she deals with his mood swings empathetically. Her kind communication skills are amazing.”

With a Support Worker who consistently shares the values of love, care, and professionalism, it’s no surprise that we have named Atelaite the June Employee of the Month.

Her kindness extends not only to her clients but to everyone around her. Saying, “I am not just a mother to five beautiful children, but also a second mother to five more through my now loving husband. My heart has no limits. With each child, stepchild, and grandkids, my love only grows stronger.”

When thinking about her happiest moments, she talks about the times spent surrounded by family – sharing stories, warm meals and laughter. A highlight is taking her grandkids out for a day filled with treats and giggles.

She also mentions her days with people in the community, saying, “My days are often busy, whether it is working out in the community with the elderly. I find joy in listening to stories from people of all backgrounds.” No matter who she talks to, she always believes in the power of listening without judgment, saying she finds joy in simply being around others.

“My gentle nature and problem-solving spirit made myself the rock of my family and with others. When others or my children hit a rough patch, I am the first to be there, not to blame but to guide and find a way forward with love and wisdom.”

With a kind and caring nature like hers, it’s no surprise that her clients and their families enjoy her presence.

Since beginning her work as a Support Worker at Pacific Homecare in 2020, Atelaite has consistently helped our elderly with personal care, prepared their meals, taken them shopping, and shown love with care and professionalism.

One customer commended Atelaite’s homecare support, saying the walks she takes her on have improved her health, lessened her shaky hands and legs, and allowed her to see the “beauty of the universe, breathe fresh air, and feel happy changing my lifestyle.”

Atelaite thrives on positive customer changes, “The clients are very important. I am happy when I see my clients smile and be happy with the jobs I deliver; they are healthy, and their independence is improved.”

Once again, we’re so proud of the impact a dedicated Support Worker like Atelaite Mounga can have on the lives of her clients and their families. Her unwavering kindness, compassionate nature, and commitment to the well-being of those she serves have earned her the Employee of the Month title and created lasting connections within the community. Atelaite’s ability to listen and uplift those around her highlights the importance of genuine care in support work. As she continues to inspire and strengthen her clients, it is clear that Atelaite’s contributions extend far beyond her duties—she truly embodies the values of Pacific Homecare.
