Nothing beats that feeling when we help our team stay safe in our workplace.
In 2021, we introduced our Health and Safety Committee at Pacific Homecare. One of our members of the Homecare Support Services (HCSS) team, Kathy Molai, shared about her journey to becoming a rep for our Health and Safety Committee.
“I’m Kathyina (Kathy) Molai. I am a proud Niuean! Born and bred in the Rock of Polynesia, Niue, to my loving parents Fumaka and Ponita Molai, with two older brothers and one older sister. Yes, I’m the baby of the family.”
Having experience within Health and Safety Committees in her previous roles, it was only natural for Kathy to join the committee at PHCARE. We asked Kathy about the tasks she undertakes in this role. Here, she said she works in a team, developing procedures and recommending improvements to management to keep things safe! Reducing accidents and injuries within the workplace.
Considering the 2021 lockdowns and changes to the Traffic Light System, the Health and Safety team have only had a few meetings. With MANY more planned. An exciting time to look forward to! One thing Kathy enjoys about these meetings is connecting with others and collaborating on new ways to help them improve.
“I like to hear from other reps’ reports…giving input to others could help them improve.”

As Kathy continues her journey as a Service Coordinator and Health & Safety representative at Pacific Homecare, she left us with some words of advice:
“Listen, consider and action makes a difference.”
Meitaki maata, Kathy! You’re flourishing within these roles and we at Pacific Homecare are happy to have you here.
