December 2021. Our team were on the edge of our seats as we watched, patiently waiting for CEO, Hamish to announce the winner of the staff draw for a TRIP FOR TWO TO RAROTONGA on our Pacific Homecare Facebook.
“And the winner is…Nalini Kumar!”
When Support Worker, Nalini found out she had won, she was speechless. No words, just a rollercoaster of excitement! After telling her customers, they told her that because of her kindness towards them, her winning was a blessing to them as well. Something Nalini will always treasure. Sure enough, a month later, she and her husband packed their bags and spent a week on the wondrous island!
Hailing from the tropical island of Fiji, the lifestyle and stunning scenery in Rarotonga reminded her of her homeland. So, although it was her first time there, she felt right at home! She and her husband spent all their time taking in the beautiful culture – dancing to mānea Cook Island music, relaxing by the pool and eating the DELICIOUS kai that Rarotonga had to offer. A dream come true! Her favourite food was the coconuts & bananas – you really can’t go wrong with fresh fruit from the islands.
Although the weather was a tad gloomy, it didn’t stop the couple from having the most enjoyable, relaxing break. When asked about her favourite part of the holiday, she couldn’t pick just one. It was a tie between the harmonious Cook Island bands and being explorers – driving around the island multiple times because one was NEVER enough!
Once they arrived back in Aotearoa, she was excited to share her memories with her family (including her PHC fanau here at the office). As said by Nalini, she “feels so proud to be a part of the company.” And we couldn’t be happier to have such an amazingly dedicated Support Worker to work alongside! It was definitely a WELL-EARNED holiday.
