Malo e lelei, my name is Silia Kolotau. Born and raised in Tonga, I have five sisters and three brothers. I came to New Zealand in 2011. I started working as a cleaner in 2011 until 2017 when I joined Pacific Homecare as a Support Worker.
Most of the tasks that I do while with the customers are personal care and household care. With personal care, I mostly help with showering, dressing, and meal preparation. But housework is cleaning, vacuum, cleaning the bed, hanging the washing, but all our tasks depends on the customer care plan.
All my customers are very good. I enjoy looking after my customers and treat them with respect and love.
Pacific Homecare has supported me through my level 2 and level 3 and also completed Everyday Leaders course.
What I like most about this job I am able to take care of my customers very well
My parents who encouraged me from a young age to help people and our community
At the end of the day, I enjoy coming home, cooking dinner and just relax, watching T.V
“Most of Silia’s customers are really happy with her, we get a lot of feedback on how much they prefer for her to be their Support Worker” says Resource Coordinator Linda Muller
