The beginning of the new year always brings new challenges and goals, some set by ourselves as well as others outside of our influence. I am always mindful of elderly, and people with disabilities who may be more isolated and we should ensure they have the right support in place. Secondly, I am mindful of some vulnerable families who also need support and assistance as they head back to work and children are back to school. Setting new Goals for Pacific Homecare is also challenging, we are endeavouring to ensure that we achieve a sustainable pathway for Pacific Homecare after recent Government changes for Pay Equity and Guaranteed hours, which we welcome. We are changing our technology for our support workers, to a new system called Health Metrics. We have noticed many clients are moving away from landlines to mobile phones and so are we. All our staff will have a mobile phone with a Homecare App on it which will be used to log them in and out of customers’ homes. So workers will not need to use customers phone lines to log in and out from February 12th 2018 onwards. This change of systems will take between 2 to 6 weeks to fully transition from implementation to fully operational. This new focus is to ensure we can look after our customers better as well as empower our workforce.
