After only a year of working with us, Support Worker Gurdeep Kaur gives us a snippet of what makes her so committed to her work out on the field day in and day out.

Tell us a little bit about your background?

I was born and raised in Chandigarh, India where I completed high school studies.

I came to New Zealand with my daughter and son in 2011 for the betterment of their future.

Working at Pacific Homecare helps me follow my passion in many ways. Even though I had the option to work elsewhere, I would still prefer Pacific Homecare because of the way they treat their employees.

What sorts of things do you do in your job?

My job includes all sorts of tasks from household work, bathing the customer and kitchen work

Tell us about your customers / a normal day in your job?

My customers are extremely cooporative. I share good working relationship with them. A normal day in my job consists of visiting each customer’s home and doing the work written in my roster which includes a combination of activities from showering, exercising and household work.

What training have you completed at Pacific Homecare?

I have been to most of the training provided by Pacific Homecare

What do you like most about working at Pacific Homecare?

The best thing about working at Pacific Homecare is the ability to meet unique people every day and make long-term relationships with my customers. I get to learn something new every single day.

Who inspires you?

My family members inspire me to do well. To pursue my dreams and aspirations

At the end of your working day, what do you like to do?

I like to spend some time with my children. Ask them about their day at school and spend some quality time with them.

Currently, I am making my own garden for my hone grown vegetables.

Listening to music and watching Bollywood movies.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

Spending time with my siblings in India

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to help and support others. I wanted to become a nurse

If you weren’t doing this job what would you be doing?

I would be working at a factory full time. But I prefer Pacific Homecare as my job over anything.
