Celebrating Successes

Pacific Homecare’s end of year event was a great time to thank all staff for their hard work, and to recognise achievements in front of their peers including graduations, weight loss challenge, Employees of the Month and,Celebrating Success body image for the first time, Whanau Ora superstars.

As Hamish Crooks (CEO) puts it “so, to our team of Support workers, field and resource coordinators and all the office support team, well done for your hard work you put in each day in supporting our elderly and people with disability services.”

Held at Papatoetoe’s Cozzie Club on Thursday 30th November, our end of year function was a buzz with cowboys, cowgirls and native Americans.

55 graduation certificates were awarded for Levels 2 and 3 National Qualifications in Health and Wellbeing, Everyday Leaders qualifications and two Whanau Ora awards.

Certificates were presented by Pacific Homecare Board Members Caren Rangi and Annette Lole Karepa, as well as Sara Gough from Career Force and Dave Curtis from The Learning Wave. The Whanau Ora awards were presented by our very own Hamish Crooks and Ann-Louise Uluakiaola.

Employees of the Month for 2017 were recognised with special in theme commemorative sashes.

The six-week weight loss challenge winners were also presented with awards. 44 staff registered to participate in the challenge, and the winner lost 9.3 kgs (9.7% of total weight).

MC Taua Malaetele entertained throughout, with his antics and insider knowledge of Pacific Homecare. The Fia Ola Coordinator also received a big thank you for the great job he has done throughout the year keeping Fia Ola running and making it a must-attend for clients.

Mama Pi Elisaia, one of two original founders of Pacific Homecare, assisted CEO Hamish Crooks with drawing out spot-prize winners for the evening.

Pacific Homecare CEO Hamish Crooks addressed the team and thanked them for another year.

“Besides the service being delivered there have been some good changes for our workforce with guaranteed hours coming into effect on April 1st 2017 and then pay equity on 1st July 2017, which is awesome with increased pay rates as well as more security around workflow of hours.”

“On the training front, Pacific Homecare continues to support our workforce with 19 graduating with level 3 and 13 graduating with a level 2 national certification taking us to 85% of all staff with a national health qualification for our sector.”

“As always we are proud of your achievements and hard work. We also had 24 graduates in our very own “Every Day Leaders” which is our workplace literacy programme, so thank you to those workers who participated and to The Learning Wave who implement this training well, thank you.”

He ended with well wishes.

“I would like to wish all our staff and clients at Pacific Homecare a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
